It certainly does not make you healthy. Neither does it prevent bad things from happening.
Scott Galloway famously canceled his health insurance and saved hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Once you are in a financially privileged position, insurance simply becomes paperwork, admin and headaches.
Most people are not Scott. And insurance is a good idea.
But how much?
It’s probably a huge waste of money to pay full coverage for everything bad that might happen. It might not.
And mostly because, you’re paying for people who are good at gaming the system, taking more tests or medicine than needed, jacking up the cost for everyone.
Insurance is really about having a safety net and peace of mind.
A deductible hospital plan is smart to cover big expenses that would wipe you out and make it easy to decide on the surgery you need.
Depending on your healthcare system, it might be worth paying extra to skip the queue or get the surgeon you want.
Most insurance agents are biased to push for maximum coverage. And because that’s how they make a living, it prevents them from seeing clearly.
Importantly, don’t mistake insurance for good habits.
A fit body, a calm mind, a house full of love. These things cannot be bought ,  they must be earned.
How much is enough insurance for you?
